Carry Concealed License

These instructions must be followed and completed before a Carry Concealed License will be issued:

  1. On the day you apply for your Carry Concealed License your fee will be $55.00 for everyone. The Sheriff’s Office will not accept any personal checks but will accept a money order, cashier check or cash.
  2. You will be given a Carry Concealed pamphlet from the Attorney Generals Office which you will acknowledge you have read and understand at the time you receive your license.
  3. You fill out the three page application in full with a current color pass port picture or a quality color picture which will be used to process you license.
  4. Your must have a legible signature when signing the application.
  5. You must provide documentation that you have been a resident of the State of Ohio for 45 days and a Shelby County resident for 30 days. A valid Ohio driver’s license or the previous 2 months of utility bills with your name and a valid address will be accepted.
  6. You must be able to show a valid drivers license or documentation to confirm your identity that the time your application is accepted.
  7. You must be able to provide a copy of your Carry Concealed Training Certificate, your trainer’s name and phone number who certified you through the National Rifle Association or the Ohio Peace Officers Training Commission which shows you competed the training required by the Carry Concealed Law.
  8. The applicant may be able to pick up their CCW Permit Card within 45 days of submitting an application. Carry Conceal permits will be issued only on the first business day of each month between the hours of 8 am and 4 pm.
  9. Renewals may be done no sooner than 90 days before the expiration date and no later than 30 days after the expiration date on your permit.   At that time you must bring in a copy of your Carry Concealed Training Certificate and file another application.   There will be a mandatory backgrounds check with a fee of $55.
